We're studying world war 2 in civics and the Holocaust in Humanities, plus i have to write this 6 paragraph essay on our essential questions for the holocaust that's due on thursday. Should be fun; writing is my thing afterall. Anyway I just saw this on bing.com images and I thought it'd be nice to post this along with what my 8th grade class and I are mostly studying right now. I used to hate history but I've recently fallen in love with it."Be content with what you are, and wish not change; nor dread your last day, nor long for it" -Marcus Valerius Martialis.

Tears
They lose themselves. As they let go of ebony shaded feathers. They spill out of fragile windows. Every falling crystal hits the wall at my feet. Where it shatters at the crime scene. Leaving stains of evidence. That disappear over time.
Sometimes they seep into the heart they came from. Especially when I catch every translucent bead. Cutting every life short. Knowing there's more that can't stay any longer. In the one home they can only belong to.
I let every one die. Because it's not in vain. They go silently without complaint. Each one promising without a choice. To hold my pain.
There's no warning. No beacon to let me know what's up ahead. There's no time for goodbyes. They seem to hang frozen in the air. Dropping so slow that they're fast. So fast that I miss them the second they leave.

Poetic Sleep
Poetry is like a dream
Given to me from my soul
Hidden away deep in my mind
Until the moment it's careless ans gives itself away
In these dreams
My heart is searching itself
Searching for thoughtful words
That mean my life
Syllables that coexist effortlessly
Though if not secured to paper quick enough
These dreams can slip away
Slip away like poetic slip
Woken up by the morning's sun
Empty Promises
An empty promise
Hangs suspended in the air
It will hover there until it's well forgotten
By it's owner
Leaving those with eager hearts
And anticipating eyes
Disappointed but forgiving
They will forgive and forgive
until they can't forget
They expect the world
Reaching into promises
Pulling out air
Coming up short of hope
I know exactly how it goes
You put your trust
Into those who place their promises
On a shelf to collect a lifetime of dust
Cobwebs develop
And your heart sinks
So low
That you don't want to retrieve it
Thief
You're the light
that turns these sparks
alive
They quickly swallow
every bit of reality
overpowering it with fire
The flames tower
touching the closest bit of sky
loving the open air
This heat scorches
every life that stumbles
in it's wake
No amount of water
can estinguish
a flame this blue
this strong
Violent torches
whip heat
into the dense
air
making it hard to breathe
the smoke suffocates
the atmosphere
draining the oxygen out of it
The sparks
under all the rubble
jump around my feet
burning into my mind
making certain I never forget
the day and hour you stole
my heart
that turns these sparks
alive
They quickly swallow
every bit of reality
overpowering it with fire
The flames tower
touching the closest bit of sky
loving the open air
This heat scorches
every life that stumbles
in it's wake
No amount of water

Paramore

I love paramore's music not to mention their guitarist, Josh Farro. He's really hot. But back to their music. It's so easy to relate to and there is always some moral you have to pick a part the song to even be able to learn. I'm all about metaphor and representations of things to depict or personify what you really want to say. I just got their new album, Brand New Eyes, it's something from paramore I never knew they had in them. I guess I didn't know their music as well as I thought I did. My basketball coach is always telling me not to assume.
Car Ride
The windshield wipers
struggle to keep up
with the rain
Our hearts
struggle to keep up
with time
Going by faster than we think
marching on to a beat
faster than our own
The music hums
in my ears
they're barely listening
The white dotted lines
that guide us through the night
tick by like seconds
that see you counting away
dismissing every minute along
with the hourglass
So I lay back
with worries
in my head
with the world on my shoulders
just wishing I was
home
struggle to keep up
with the rain
Our hearts
struggle to keep up
with time
Going by faster than we think
marching on to a beat
faster than our own
The music hums
in my ears
they're barely listening
The white dotted lines
that guide us through the night
tick by like seconds
that see you counting away
dismissing every minute along
with the hourglass
So I lay back
with worries
in my head
with the world on my shoulders
just wishing I was
home
Any Questions
You may have been wondering, "What's up with all these poems?" well i wrote a lot of poetry this year and the past for my Humanities class to form a poem book. I'm pretty proud of all of them. <3

Winter Walk
Reaching Shore

Days, since words were spoken
Weeks, since hearts were broken
Minutes, since I've met your eyes
Months, since I've bothered to even try
Happiest I've been since December
Because I've forgotten all I used to remember
Thinking I needed you is not how I think anymore
Leaving you behind felt like reaching a far off shore
It feels good to stand where I stand now
After swimming sea after sea, it's a miracle I haven't drowned
I lost myself along the way, but I found me
It took some time but it all feel into place, eventually
It's taken four months to end up here
Close enough to our ocean without being too near
Looking out at that vast water slowly takes me back
I hold my ground and the memories lose
backwards with you will never be the direction I choose
